Pleasure Literacy: The ABCs of Feeling Good—Despite Pain

Pleasure.

When most people hear this word, they think of intimate activities. But pleasure is also our response to tasty food, a beloved song, or just sunlight on the skin. Pleasure is simply feeling good—physically. For thousands of years, scientists have known that humans move toward pleasure and away from pain ALL DAY LONG, an instinct at the center of our operating system. And yet, we’re not taught how to navigate these constant urges, leaving us conflicted and frightened our natural cravings will only lead to destruction. This cloud of uptightness obscures a stunning and delightful truth: cultivating body bliss can be the most direct—and reliable—way to achieve joy, gratitude, relaxation, resilience, and even happiness. Understanding pleasure helps us enjoy being alive. In this talk, sexuality educator, yoga teacher and author Laura Zam, shares a three-step process for feeling good—in body, mind, and soul—even when faced with the worst of circumstances (like debilitating pain). Laura will also offer a special Peach Corps bonus: tips for having great sex despite gynecological challenges. Whatever it is that life has thrown at you, pleasure is your birthright. Come join us to learn how to claim it!
